Othen is an AI assistant that prepares email drafts, and copies attachments for you. This page explains what it reads, what it keeps and how to stop it.
What you connect
You connect your own Google account through Google's consent screen, separately for Gmail and Google Drive. Access tokens are held by our connection provider; Othen stores only an encrypted connection reference tied to your Othen account. Othen never uses a shared or company Google account to read your data.
What Google lets Othen access, and what Othen actually uses
Google's permissions are broader than what Othen does, so we describe both honestly:
- Gmail (read and compose): Google allows reading your whole mailbox and creating drafts. Othen's software only lists mail in the one label you choose, reads your sending signature and connected address, and creates drafts. It has no code path to send, delete, archive or label mail.
- Google Drive (read only, plus files Othen creates): Google allows reading all of your Drive. Othen only reads the documents you list as business context and checks whether they changed, and only adds new copies of attachments to the folder you choose.
These limits are enforced in Othen's code, not by Google. You can revoke all access at any time in your Google account settings.
What Othen reads
Email in the label you choose from roughly the last 30 days, including attachments it decides are relevant (contracts, quotes, invoices and similar, up to 20 MB) and the Drive documents you list. It does not search the rest of your mailbox or Drive, and it does not look up people or leads outside your email.
What Othen changes
It creates Gmail drafts in the original thread, saves copies of attachments into your chosen folder (with a note of which email they came from). Originals are never moved or deleted, and drafts you edited are not overwritten without asking. Every change is logged with Google's ID and a link.
AI processing
To write a draft or read a document, the relevant text is sent to an AI model through our AI provider. Email and document content is treated as information, never as instructions. AI can still be wrong, so drafts wait for you to review and send.
What we store
Your confirmed business profile, style settings and sample replies; a short record of each job (sender, subject, a draft preview, questions it asked you); a log of changes made; usage counts and AI cost measurements for your plan; and, if you subscribe, your billing status from Stripe (we never see your card). We do not store full mailboxes or copies of your files; attachment bytes pass through our server only on the way to your Drive.
Stopping and deleting
Pause Othen any time in Today; it starts no new work while paused, though a change already being saved at that moment may finish. Disconnect any Google service in Settings, which revokes Othen's connection; you can also remove access from your Google account settings. To delete your Othen data, .
Certifications
Othen does not currently hold security certifications such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
